Supported by a network of 300 members, the Pôle Mer Bretagne benefits from the active involvement of its founding members and the expertise of an Engineering and Coordinating Team.Developing the maritime economy and creating jobs through innovationStrengthened by the wealth of marine and maritime resources available, the Pôle Mer Bretagne is the driving force behind a cooperative enterprise involving major companies, SMEs, research centres and higher education institutions. Its mission is to identify and promote the emergence of innovative projects that will satisfy the demands of new markets. Its project partners, who are key stakeholders in the maritime world, draw on the sea for inspiration and, by networking, develop their ideas into sustainable products and services.
Discovering new challengesTowards a safe and sustainable maritime world The Pôle Mer Bretagne and Pôle Mer PACA are seeking to respond to the demand for 'safety and security' and the need for 'sustainable development'. These two areas form the basis for the five themes on which the clusters' work is focused:
Creating regional dynamismReinforcing regional specialisation Brittany is an extraordinarily fertile location for the Pôle Mer Bretagne in its role as promoter of the maritime economy: 2 700km of coastline, 100 000 jobs linked to the sea and 3 000 graduates each year in maritime-related education and training. The Pôle draws on these natural, economic and human resources to create an economic dynamism based on innovation. The neighbouring regions of Pays de Loire and Basse-Normandie possess complementary skills that are at the root of interregional collaboration. Making an international impactStrengthening and promoting French maritime excellence The Pôle Mer Bretagne is a globally focused cluster whose mission is to promote economic competitiveness. It aims to operate worldwide and to attain a standard of excellence that will ensure its members benefit from increased competitiveness and greater visibility internationally. The close collaboration between the Pôle Mer Bretagne and its twin cluster, the Pôle Mer PACA, represents a major advantage in achieving this goal. |
