a hub of economic competitiveness since 2005In 2005, the regions of Brittany and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur were officially recognised as clusters of economic competitiveness with a global remit for their outstanding maritime centres of excellence. The twin clusters had their status reaffirmed for the period 2009-2011 and have strengthened their existing strategy based on the demand for 'safety and security' and the need for 'sustainable development'. towards a safe and sustainable maritime worldOn the basis of this twofold strategy, five major themes have been developed for the cluster's work:
