Fishing and fish farming

Sometimes over-exploited and often unappreciated, the sea is a life-source at the heart of sustainable development.  Fishing is staking its future on new practices aimed at guaranteeing sustainability of the industry and of fish stocks.

Fish and shellfish farming have the potential to develop using new breeding techniques provided they can benefit from high quality water and, like all coastal water users, take account of shared space and respect for the environment.
Along with the commercial fish trade, these activities directly employ 9 500 people in Brittany.
