Since its creation in 2005, the Pôle Mer Bretagne has been working to ensure that its global remit reflects the excellence of all its players.

France has an Economic Exclusion Zone of 11 million square kilometres to develop and protect, as well as significant scientific expertise and industrial capabilities, major assets in its drive to grow the maritime economy and make an impact internationally.

JOINING EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL CLUSTER NETWORKS

The Pôle Mer Bretagne is one of 17 clusters in France promoting global competitiveness and recognised by the government in July 2005. A strategy designed to exploit international opportunities has been implemented in concert with the Pôle Mer PACA and has led to an expanding network and a programme of joint action with targeted partners.

ExAmples OF action TAKEN

  • .Agreement signed in 2008 with Marine Southeast, a maritime cluster in the south of England.

  • Agreement signed in 2007 with the Schleswig Holstein maritime cluster in Germany.

  • Agreement signed in 2007 with the Quebec maritime cluster and projects now underway.

  • Agreement signed in November 2008 with the Franco-Norwegian Foundation and participation since October 2007 in its board of management meetings.

  • Partnership agreement signed in 2008 with the Libyan Council for Economic Development.

  • Agreement signed in June 2009 with the Ligurian District for Marine Technologies in Spezzia in Italy.
